Replaces the Palapa D satellite
Indosat Ooredoo is currently developing a new satellite, which is planned to be launched called Palapa Nusantara Dua Satelit(SPND).
This satellite will be launched to replace the Palapa D satellite whose active period will end, SPND is a satellite used for television services, personal network services, Internet access, and multimedia and video conferencing.
The capacity is 20 C-band transponders and 10 Ku-band Its capacity is 20 C-band transponders and 10 Ku-band spot beams with a total bandwidth capacity of 10 Gbps, this satellite to reach all regions of Indonesia.
SPND is designed to be a satellite to support broadcasting not for broadband internet network, so that the target consumers of SPDN are television stations, including Indosat Ooredoo TV.
SPND will be launched in May 2020, will not interfere with the smooth migration process, the transition from Palapa D to SPND is very minimal for customers.
The Palapa D broadcasting satellite, which will replace SPND so far, is widely used by C band and Ku band antenna users.
